Keyboard shortcuts
Our goal: a BibleShow operator should feel at home from minute one, and a Mac-native operator shouldn't fight the platform. So we kept BibleShow's shortcuts exactly where they earn their place — the core keys (Return, Esc, PageDown/Up, F5/F6/F9) work identically — and added Mac-idiomatic equivalents (⌘+F ⌘+K ←/→ for live navigation) where macOS has its own deeply-rooted convention. Both work; pick whichever your fingers already know.
Note: output-control shortcuts (Return, PageDown/Up) are suppressed when focus is on a text field — so you don't trigger them while typing a reference or a search query.
Output control
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Return | Show preview verse on output Suppressed when a text field is focused. |
| F9 | Show preview verse on output Same as Return — kept for BibleShow muscle memory. |
| Esc | Hide output Always fires, even when a text field is focused. Press it again — with the output already hidden — to open the Book → Chapter → Verse browser and focus the reference field (text selected, ready to replace). |
