Troubleshooting
Quick fixes for the most common issues. If what you're seeing isn't in the list below, use our contact form.
App won't open
BibleCast is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so the first launch should only show a brief verification dialog with an Open button. If macOS says the app is damaged:
- Verify the SHA-256 of the downloaded DMG against the value on the download page. If they differ, download again.
- Eject the DMG, re-download, drag the app into Applications (don't run it from inside the DMG).
Second display not detected
- macOS owns external HDMI/Thunderbolt detection, not BibleCast. Check System Settings → Displays first — if macOS sees it, BibleCast will too.
- If macOS sees it but BibleCast doesn't, click Refresh in Display Settings (or restart BibleCast).
- Check display mode. If "Mirror Displays" is on, macOS treats both screens as one — turn it off in System Settings → Displays.
NDI source doesn't appear in OBS
- Make sure NDI Tools is installed. BibleCast shows a message with a download button if it can't find it.
- Confirm the Broadcast role is enabled in Display Settings (switch on).
- Local Network permission — on macOS Sequoia and later, check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network that BibleCast is allowed.
- If OBS is on a different Mac, both have to be on the same network (same router/switch).
For details see the NDI docs.
Translation download fails
- Check the internet connection. BibleCast downloads from Cloudflare R2 — if your VPN or firewall blocks *.biblecast.app, the download fails.
- As a fallback, download the file manually from the Translations page and sideload via Install from file… in the Translations Manager.
Verse doesn't appear on screen after Show
- Confirm you've assigned a screen to the Audience role (or another) in Display Settings.
- The bottom-right status reads Output: Live (green) or Output: Hidden (gray). If Hidden, hit Show in the ControlBar or press Return.
- If the output window was moved to a different screen via System Settings, BibleCast reattaches it on the next Show.
Crash reports
BibleCast sends anonymous crash reports to Sentry (event ID, stack trace, macOS version — no personal data, no open verses). See the privacy policy for details.
To disable: in the app, click ? in the top toolbar → Privacy & data → turn off "Send crash reports." The change takes effect on the next launch.
Logs
For technical bug reports, the macOS Console.app shows BibleCast logs filtered by process. Or use our contact form and we'll tell you where to look for your specific case.
